Ghost Train

TL;DR A ghost train knocked me on my ass.

About 3 years ago, a group of friends and I were out late doing typical bored recently graduated stuff. It was near October so the spooky was in the air. We thought it would be cool to head to a Cemetery and tell Ghost stories. We snuck into this real nice one in a large town near our own. After a while of hanging out and scaring ourselves we just sat down and started talking.

Then we heard the sound of train horns in the distance. We looked and saw the lights of a large train on the other side of a tree line. All of us had talked about how cool it would be to hop on a moving train in the past. But this is where it gets weird.

None of us said a single word, we simultaneously stood up, and started full speed sprinting to this train. As we got closer to the tree line we would see that it was absolutely massive, and how it was shaped made no sense, its pilot cart resembled the facade of a Cathedral, large gothic style arches. The sound of the train was loud but we just kept running. Once we got to the trees it suddenly sounded its horn. The sound was soul piercing. The moment the sound blasted, I feinted. Just dropped. Ive never feinted in my life. Well it only lasted like a split second. The next thing I knew I was screaming and scrambling to my feet I saw my friends were doing the same. We high tailed it back to my friends car with this over whelming sense of fear. We talked about what had happened.

Apparently all 3 of us had feinted in that moment. One friend, who was about 6 feet behind me said it happened like a wave. I, in the front dropped first, then my other friend behind me stumbled to his knees and then fell over, and lastly he himself had felt his legs give way and just as he was about to hit the ground we came to. We all were so scared and didn’t know why, we also couldn’t figure out why we all decided that we had to get on this train.

Okay, sounds wild right? Not actually that hard to explain? 3 kids got scared of a loud sound?

We went back the next day, we wanted to see how big the train tracks must’ve been to support this behemoth train. We snuck around this tree line and were shocked to see that while there was a large opening that ran through the trees, there was no tracks. Nothing at all.

Last year, I told this story to a boss. He was able to tell me what cemetery, and how it happened, because back in the 90s he and his friends experience something eerily similar there. Massive train, hypotonic run, loud horn, terror.

I still have no clue how we saw this train or why we wanted to be on it so bad. Or how it could cause 3 people to feint simultaneously. Just one of those weird ass things.
