Gargoyle or dog-like entity?
Apologies if this is long but I need opinions if you can spare the time!
Little backstory: My brother is a bit of a free spirit-type, and him and his wife decided to move to the countryside and start a small farm. The house is a grand Victorian-era farmhouse, pretty typical for the middle of nowhere Midwest. He has two kids, his son is 5 and his daughter is 1.
I’m not sure if this is related, but very soon after moving in, my nephew started having seizures where he’d go catatonic and foam at the mouth. Obviously it was scarier and harder to get to a doctor when you’re in a town of like 85 people and 45 minutes away from the nearest “big” town. He’s now on medicine and hasn’t had one.
My mom went to stay with my brother after my nephew’s second seizure/hospital visit. She’s a nurse so it just made sense. She said around 5am, she went in the pantry to start making coffee because she couldn’t sleep, and in the corner of the kitchen was a white pitbull-like dog, but the head was more like a gremlin. She said she stepped toward it and it walked into the cabinet and disappeared.
After this there have been other sightings that people are very quick to dismiss. My nephew talked about how sometimes he sees a white dog upstairs by the bedrooms, and asked his mom how it gets in the house.
Then, my brother said a “white thing that almost looked like a creepy gargoyle” ran into his barn when he was checking on the chickens at night, and spent an hour googling different animals in the area. My brothers friend was spending the night after drinking a little too much and also mentioned a big white dog.
What do dogs/gargoyles mean? Has anyone had experience with this? My brother is incredibly skeptic of anything spiritual, god/ghosts/meditation even, but id like opinions on what could be happening. Anytime someone spends the night there, they wake up feverish. My brother got an air purifier for the whole house because of it. I really think something is weird there, but the worst part is, it doesn’t FEEL scary. I am calm there.
Grelkin. Parasitic creatures that are part physical and part spirit. They can phase between realities and dislike prolonged viewings of others. They generally vary in appearance but always have a few things in common. They are similar to faeries or gnomes but usually take animal forms or shapes. They feed slowly 8ff the life force of people and animals. Exactly how is up for debate but it always results in sickness, fevers, and sometimes more dramatic symptoms, like seizures or other maladies.
Like a mosquito , vampire bats or similar parasites who physically exude chemicals to numb the pain and go unnoticed as they feed, the grelkin gives off a mild form of telepathic energy to calm or shut down the normal flight or fear reaction of animals and people. Though unable to directly control or possess another being, they can suggest they were never there, or that they are harmless and normal. They can walk in dreams and prefer sleeping prey, so will most often be seen in bedrooms and hallways near rest areas or to cause the most damage and symptoms during sleep.
Little is known how to be rid if these creatures as usually once someone immune to their mind control stands up to them, or someone with spiritual strength begins to rid them, they themselves flee to find new victims. Grelkin are not known for confrontation as their entire existence is calming others and avoiding all negative reaction. And so though they may leave for a shirt time, could return if the strong willed spiritual person leaves after cleansing the area or trying to communicate with or rid them of the area.
Though they are disrupted by the same things far folk are. Cold iron, certain charms and talismans from folklore. Though these only ward away the feature but will not fully banish or disarm it.
Since they don't like to travel usually, one solution is move that family out of the house. The other solution is capture the grelkin and kill it. As it is still physical. But it can still shift to other dimensions.Its weak compared to most other cryptids or beings. But again it has strong telepathic powers.
My advice is just get the hell out of dodge. Let it be someone else's problem. Or get in an experienced spiritual person to combat it drive it away for good.
