Hovering Humanoid
I have a similar story to you.
When I was a kid, around 7 or 8 years old, I saw something unexplainable that creeped me out for years. One night I saw what appeared to be a humanoid type thing, hovering, directly outside of my two story bedroom. Naturally, I would have said I was dreaming, but my brother was in the room with me and both of us ran into my parents bedroom to go get them. When we returned with our parents the thing was gone.
About 15 years later I saw an advertisement for a "Body Worlds" exhibit at the science museum. Sure enough, there was a picture of the monster I saw in the window. A skinned human. I actually went to the exhibit when it came into town. I commented on how creepy it looked, not because a skinless human is creepy, but because this is exactly what I saw all of those years ago.
