How The House Changed

My ex-husband lived many of his childhood years in what they thought was a haunted house. The stories from there are weird for sure but I often wonder what exactly the source of the haunting was.
For instance, the entire family would go out to do a family thing (3 kids & both parents total) and there were several times they came home to find their neighbors outside watching their house because lights were turning on & off all over the house. My former FIL was very handy, so I tend to think if there was an electrical issue in the house he would have found it and probably even would have been able to fix it fairly effortlessly.
There are other stories like when my ex was really young, say around 6 or 7 years old, his sisters used to gang up on him and tease him bad enough to make a little kid cry. He said he used to talk to this thing, whatever was in his house, and ask it to make his sisters leave him alone. Apparently there is one incident that it chased his younger sister into her room where she hid under the bed or in her closet, can't remember how the story went, and it stayed by the door not letting her out.
I often wonder if this thing attached itself to my ex.
I do have a reason for bringing this up. Obviously you can deduce we are now divorced. He ended up being a horrible husband and only a mediocre father, so I left him. He targeted me with a lot of misdirected anger for a few years before I gave up and left him.
Later on I learned that his mother was horribly abusive to him growing up, I mean really bad. I'm sure she messed him up so bad it was difficult for him to have any kind of a healthy relationship in his adult years because healthy relationships were never modeled for him (his grandparents were all basically a holes as well, and all died when he was young). I really have to wonder if his family is dealing with a generational possession of some sort. It takes a lot for me to even bring this up because I am very much a skeptic, but strange things happened during our marriage too.
We bought a house shortly after getting married back in 2001. I'm a sensitive and have always been able to "feel" bad energy in a place. When we bought that house I'm telling you, it was perfectly clean. There was nothing bad or negative there. The woods around the house were peaceful. Moving out of the city into this place seemed like a godsend to me. But soon after moving in, I would say maybe a year or so, weird things began to take place.
There was one spot in the house that sounded like a radio. Like someone accidentally forgot to shut one off in another room. It sounded like talk radio, no music. So I would get up to shut it off, thinking it was the radio in the kitchen, but nothing would be on. That happened quite a lot and I wasn't the only one to hear it. And you would only hear it in that one spot of the house, nowhere else.
We had a loft instead of an attic and we would hear footsteps up there. Go check and of course there would be nothing.
When my kids were born things got really weird. After they started talking they would say things like that they didn't want to sleep in the one bedroom because a demon with red eyes lived in that room and he would sit up by the ceiling in this one corner all the time.
My oldest used to have night terrors, screaming like someone was killing him, waking up the entire house. I could not console him, he was out of his mind terrorized. I finally just moved him out of that room and let him sleep in the same room as me so he wouldn't be afraid at night. I stopped sleeping in the same room as my ex around this time because soon baby #2 came and he had to get up early for work so I just stayed in one room with the kids, away from where he slept. Baby #3 came soon after.
I was so busy with babies and so sleep deprived during this time I really can't say if all that happened in that house was just because of my state of mind or if something was really messing with us.
The dog slept with my ex in the demon bedroom and I have on video of her looking up at that corner, like she actually saw something there. The same corner my kids said they saw it.
When my oldest was a teenager, he was living up in the loft. One day while he was just sitting there drawing a book that was on his shelf went flying across the room. Not like it was aiming for anything, just randomly.
All 3 of the kids swore they saw the red eyed demon when they were each between the ages of 2 to about 6. In the same spot in the same bedroom that none of them would sleep in, only my ex would.
My youngest swore there were things in the woods that would look in the windows at us at night. I had a very large Florida room that I divided into 2 rooms. The entire wall to the outside was windows. It was a gorgeous room with southern exposure. We had no neighbors behind us.
We started using these 2 spaces as bedrooms. I ended up having to put up curtains because my youngest was too afraid, thinking whatever was in the woods could see him and it watched him. I also would get a little freaked out about the windows in there at night.
For me it was the reflections. I always avoided looking at the windows at night because with lights on inside the house and outside was pitch dark, the windows were like mirrors and I was afraid of what I would see, so avoided looking at them at all. It was much better when I put the curtains up.
So there was a lot of little things here and there in that house over the 20 years that we owned it. After we broke up I was only too happy to let my ex keep the house. I had no interest at all of owning it. When I left I took down all the protection objects I had put in all the windows to take with me, and looking back, maybe I shouldn't have done that.
I'm really wondering if all that energy I put into all the windows keeping negative energy out was protecting my ex because after I left his health seriously declined to the point he can no longer work. Eventually he couldn't pay the mortgage and they started foreclosure, as banks are wont to do, and he lost the house. He was living there on borrowed time for a few years until all legal possibilities were exhausted and he had to leave, which was very very recent, only a few weeks ago.
That property was beautiful when we moved in. There was nothing negative by that house, the woods behind the house were clear, I'm sure of it. By the time everyone moved out the place is just a mess, both physically and energy wise. It always seems so dark now, even if you have all the lights on. It didn't used to be that way. I remember gorgeous sunny days playing with the kids when they were little... Those sunny days completely disappeared over the years.
Even when the weather was gorgeous, the house was dark. The woods became creepy and scary. When I first moved in there I would see woods creatures all the time - groundhogs and squirrels and deer and bears and all the things you'd expect to see in the woods. Now it's overrun with feral cats.
There is nothing about that property that is the same from when we first bought it. A lot of awful things happened in the house directly across the road as well, but honestly I couldn't say if my ex's negative energy was responsible or if they had something over there, or maybe it joined forces with each other... Who knows.
That family dealt with their oldest kid being perfect future serial killer material. He threatened to kill my kids and he killed a cat in front of them to drive home his point. Both parents had cancer and other really awful health issues. The father had a stroke at only 55 years old (he was always active & in very good physical shape, so it's bizarre that this happened to him) turning him into a vegetable that will never get out of bed again and cannot speak and has been the target of terrible abuse by the oldest kid.
The older boy also threatened his brother that he was going to kill him to the point he had to get a restraining order and the older one was kicked out of the house. The mother had 4 suicide attempts that I know of, all unsuccessful. Then one day she just died. Like, out of the blue had a heart attack, through no effort of her own.
Really really bad stuff there. But being a skeptic I often just wonder maybe it was just 2 families who lived across the road from each other that had terrible luck or maybe bad genes or something, who knows. It's just an awful lot of coincidences to justify it as "bad luck". There's way more that happened here but my post is crazy looking already. Maybe one day I should write a book.
Any thoughts or comments are appreciated. I don't blame anyone who doesn't believe anything I'm saying because I'm not sure what I believe myself. I'm just so grateful to be out of there.
