Demon House

I had a demon house myself.

I was sitting there one night, just playing on my computer, and my room was well lit, but the light didn't bounce out well, and from the hall you could see down, past the second bedroom and bathroom, all the way to the living room about 30ft away.

Anyway, I look out, into the darkness of the living room, and I start suddenly- SWEET JESUS WHAT IS THAT my brain goes, panicked, but... it's not moving. Okay, it looks like this hunched little... thin pale creature, but my eyes are adjusting to the dark, it's sitting by the chair, man, I must have left my backpack there really weirdly... it looks like some gaunt, sunken faced... thing, looking at me. Like, dear god, it really is creeping the shit out of me, and it's still looking creepy, so, I get my bedside lamp, flick it on and tilt it.

Of course, that'll reveal it to be my backpack, a nice and easy, let's illuminate it, and...

Oh that's not okay.

Oh that's not okay at all, it's looking at me.

That is exactly what it looked like, it was bigger though- about 3ft tall, equal height with my dinner table, maybe a few inches shorter, hunched and... exactly like that. I didn't know how to find a picture for it til years later I saw this film and was like AAAH GOD IT'S THEM.

Anyway, it just... stared at me. Stared, and stared, with eyes glowing green in the lamp light... and I blinked. Like, okay, blink and it'll be OH GOD IT IS STILL THERE and then, before my eyes, it just slowly loped off to the left... out of sight, into my kitchen.

Now, I shut the door, and was like, "Okay, there are no entrances in or out of my home so unless this thing can close/open doors, ahhahaha, it was a figment of my imagination, it was not as real as it looked, it's fine..."

Anyway, I heard... claws in the walls. Never saw anything again, but they were bigger than rats- no rat sounds that big, scratches that... slowly. I was terrified, and then my ex moved in. One day, I was like, hey, sweetie come... come over here. You here that? She was like, yeah, rats... and I'm like, okay, that sound is there, then that sound... is here... then this one is a foot away here. What rat is slowly making sounds spaced at one foot intervals up the wall, in a zigzag pattern? That sounds like something crawling.

She told me it absolutely does sound that and to stop talking about it because I'm freaking her out, I never told her about the... demon thing, because she was paranoid enough and I couldn't afford the rent solo again.

Then, we're moving out, and she's in the kitchen- the kitchen it vanished into, the area just near where we heard them in the walls, and she goes, "Hey, I was clearing out the stuff in the water heater cabinet we never use... did you know that part of the timber is missing down here? That's where that rat we had once must have come from... it's totally open to the empty space under the house."

I looked. Part of the timber that had been there when I moved in had been broken. Rotted, maybe, and fallen away? It looked chewed at. My ex said by rats chewing on the rotted timbers, but it was big, about a 1ft square gap in the most discreet part of the cabinet behind the hot water tank.

I told her when we moved out, and she was like OH GOD I HAD SO MANY HORRIBLE FEELINGS IN THAT PLACE THAT MAKE SENSE NOW WHAT THE FUCK.

Weird, horrible house- what made it really bad was that it didn't feel like a supernatural/magical thing. It just felt like a horrible... I guess 'cryptid' is the word? Anyway, didn't follow when we moved house, which was nice after watching Sinister/Paranormal Activity around the time, so... I guess that place just had a fucking demon monster living beneath it.

Never had a hallucination like that before, or since, or when I smoked anything- it was clear, lucid, plain as day. I wish it had looked more magical, scary, or I'd had sleep paralysis... this was just, "Oh dear god what the fuck that isn't going away by the regular rules of monster banishment, with a light or blinking."... and I dismissed it, til the hot water tank incident and the wall sounds.
