Scared K9

I used to work as a Sheriff's Deputy in Missouri. I have a few things that happened that I would consider paranormal while I was on patrol.
The first one was when I had just joined the department. I was working the 2200-0600 shift, more comely known as third shift.
I had just come on duty when I heard a city officer dispatched to a call of burglary in progress at a new bed and breakfast. The only city officer on duty was the K9 officer. I heard him ask for a deputy to respond to assist with the call. Since I was still in town and hadn't reported to my patrol zone, I radioed that I would respond. I get there and the city officer is at the door with the K9. I grab the shotgun out of my patrol car so I could provide cover for the K9 and the city officer.
We make entry and hear movement in the basement. It sounded like boxes being tosses around and glass breaking. We got to the basement door and the city officer opens it.
He calls out. "Police K9! Make yourself known or we will release the dog and you will be bit!"
The noise stops and it gets dead quiet in the house.
The city officer yells again, "Police K9, come out with your hands up or we will release the dog and you will be bit!"
At this time, my heart is pumping as I think we're about to get into a fight with whoever is in the basement. I start to wonder how many are in the basement because of how much noise was being made.
I radio for another deputy to respond code 3 (lights and sirens in emergency mode) to respond to my location. I hear the deputy radio he is in route as well as a State Trooper.
Once we knew backup was on the way the city officer releases the dog to run downstairs. This dog was a beast! I helped train with them from time to time and know this dog has balls of steel!
It runs halfway down the stairs and stops dead in its track. It looks up at us like it was saying, "fuck you guys! I'm not going down there!"
I look at the city officer and ask him if this has ever happened before and he said nope. At that moment, the Trooper arrives and joins us in the house. We decide to go downstairs and clear the basement.
We had to physically push this dog down the stairs. Once we reach the bottom, the dog takes off and starts going ape shit in a corner behind the furnace.
We think he has found the guy/guys responsible for the break in. We clear the basement and go around the corner but there is nothing there but the dog. No intruder or broken glass even though we heard it break, just an empty room.
The K9 is still freaking the fuck out and almost bites the city officer when he went to put on the leash. It is then that I realize that the windows still have cobwebs up so no one escaped out those and the only other exit was the stairs that we used to walk down into the basement.
We exit the house and gather around our patrol cars. As we're talking, the owner hears what we are saying. She ask us if we found anything and we tell her no. She then informs us that the bed and breakfast was a former funeral home and weird shit has been happening since they started the remodel.
Needless to say, I was a bit freaked out over that one.
