Black Thing
This might seem a little tame compared to some stories in this thread but it's one hundred percent true and happened three days ago.
I was babysitting my five yr old niece and we were standing on our balcony. There's the road, a cow field, and then the woods which could all been seen from there.
I saw her staring into the field and she saw me watching her and said "what is that?".
I laughed and said "you know what that is, it's a cow."
A confused look went over her face but she kept looking into the field.
"Even the black thing?"
I looked but all the cows were brown. "Those cows aren't black, they're brown." I said.
"No." She said, still staring. "The black thing."
There was no black thing. I approached the barrier of the balcony to look closer but she wrapped her little arms around my leg.
"Where?" I asked. She pointed at one of the cows.
"The black thing, on the cow. The mister. He's eating the cow."
At this point I figured she was playing a game, so I said "He must be hungry, shall we invite him in for dinner?"
Her eyes went wide and she grabbed my leg harder and started saying no no no, tears welling up in her eyes. I comforted her and told her she was silly and that was only joking, and that there was no one there.
She got all angry and said "there, there!", pointing, and then suddenly stopped. She whispered to me - "he saw me, I want to go inside now." So we did.
She kept asking me if I really didn't see him, over and over again "you didn't see the mister?" "No" "really?" With that genuine childlike confusion like when we tried to teach her left from right and her forehead crinkles up. She kept asking me to confirm that he wasn't going to come into the house and I promised he wouldn't.
That's it. I thought it was a joke at first but I saw sincere fear and confusion on her little face, and she's a horrible liar. I don't know what she meant by the black mister eating the cow, but I do know that the farmer moved his cows out of that field the next day.
